What changed
Hart State Park left the Georgia state park system. Since April 1, 2020, the City of Hartwell has operated it as Hartwell Lakeside Park. That means a Georgia ParkPass isn't what gets you in; the city sets its own fees, which aren't published online. Call before you go.
For paddlers
The park has one boat ramp, and paddling and swimming are listed activities. It's open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. There's no rental on site; Lake Hartwell Kayak Rental & Delivery is based in Hartwell and delivers to public parks.
Camping
Georgia State Parks' old listing for the park shows 42 tent and RV sites and 16 walk-in sites. The city now takes reservations, so call 706-376-1340 for current sites and rates.
